How To Create Awards For Employees
Few expect anything except a regular paycheck for doing their job well, and often constructive criticism seems to be the order of the day from most employers rather than applaud. However, featuring an employee for exceptional work ethic or awarding them some recognition for an exceptional job well done is a great idea to help encourage enthusiastic work among all employees. Here are a few ideas for creating an
Awards for Employees that will be far from the mundane.
It is a good idea to involve the employees in the process of setting standards for awards. For instance, if you are going to have an employee of the month each month, have the employees themselves submit ideas for the criteria of this program. This will keep them from being bitter or upset when the award is given out as they will understand the standards set and the process by which the award is given out.
If you truly wish to award your employees for extra effort, come up with a list of perks that they would truly appreciate. A plaque or special display is a nice idea as everyone enjoys a little recognition.
But how about letting the awarded employee leave an hour early from work or getting a free daily drink of their choice? These are things that any worker can appreciate and are likely to strive for.
If you are going to give out an award, make it a big deal. For instance, if you merely plan to update the award bulletin board each month, all too soon this will become a mundane task that you forget altogether. Even if you remember to update it, likely the employees will soon become disinterested altogether. There is nothing exciting about getting your picture on a board.
Have a certain day each month that the Award for Employee is given out. Perhaps on the first day or Monday of each month you might have a meeting at work with celebration drinks or snacks to make the occasion more special. Perhaps you will have the employees vote on the person of choice for the award. Whatever method you choose, if you are going to give out employee awards, make it a big deal worth working for. |
