These signs have been widely used in decoration. You are likely to come across them in homes and other premises in small country towns. They can be comical, creative, fancy or just plain. It all depends on ones creativity. These items are quite cheap to create, they do not even cost half of their purchase price.
The first thing you are going to need is wood. These are not hard to find, you can get some plywood scraps from family and friends and if they do not have you could also go buy them at a very small fee. You can use the type of wood you want, however plywood is the easiest to work with and it is the cheapest as well.
Cut the plywood to your desired styling and size or according to the number of letters to be put on it. Once you have done this, you can paint the front part with acrylic paint. It is also possible to use regular house paint just as long as the surface is smooth.
The base paint of the plywood should contrast well with the paint you intend to use on the lettering. A good example is using a contrast of black and white. You also have the option of using sage, green, dark red or brown so as to give it a country theme.
Once you have completed painting the base paint and it has dried, you can now begin with the lettering. It is usually best to use a stencil if you are sure about your drawing skills. You can find stencils at your local craft store or download one from the internet. You can also add an image for a personal touch for example a house or some love hearts.
