Cookie Bouquet – The Perfect Birthday Gift For Any Age

Birthday Cookie BouquetIs there anything more delicious than a batch of homemade cookies? It’s so much fun to share the joy of cookies with someone special on their birthday. Sure, you could run over with a plate of cookies. But if you want to really make an impact, send them a goodie basket filled with long-stemmed cookies that are artfully arranged to look like a floral bouquet.

Cookie bouquets are a great idea for birthday boys and girls from one to 100. Everyone loves getting cookies. And the surprise of a cookie basket awaiting them at their doorstep makes anyone’s birthday more festive.

There are many places that will deliver cookies for you in the form of a bouquet. You can get relatively cheap undecorated chocolate chip cookies all the way on up to supreme (and expensive!). Decide on your budget and then select the cookie bouquet that you think your friend will like. Here are some sites that deliver cookie bouquets for birthdays.

CookieGiftBaskets.com: This company’s cookies are masterful works of art. You’ll have to look twice to make sure they are really cookies! You can order a birthday bouquet complete with hand-decorated sugar cookies that look almost too good to eat. Their festive colors and realistic designs make them photo worthy and also quite delicious. Surprise someone special today!

Gourmet Cookie Bouquets: This company specializes in the unusual. You can get long stemmed cookie bouquets that look like a professional artist painted them. You can also find decorated Oreos, a big birthday cookie cake, individually decorated cookies, giant decorated fortune cookies, and personalized cookies for any occasion. Find them at www.gourmet-cookie-bouquets.com.

Corsos Cookies: This bakery does cookie bouquets in every shape and color imaginable. Go for a baby cookie bouquet for a small child’s birthday or a happy birthday party animal bouquet for that partier on your list. There are balloon cookies, stylish heels and purse cookies and more. You can get a special Sweet 16 bouquet or an over the hill bouquet. All are freshly baked to order and decorated with vivid colored icing that hardens so it won’t smear.

Cookie bouquets can be ordered from many bakeries in your town as well as all over the Internet. Be sure you are getting fresh cookies and that you’re able to select the delivery date. Choose within your price range and don’t forget to allow for shipping charges, which can run pretty high since the items are perishable. Shop around before deciding on a birthday bouquet. You may opt to make one yourself when you see how easy it is. Just bake up a batch of oversized cookies, place them on long lollipop sticks that you can get at a craft store, stand them up in a box that’s fitted with floral foam or Styrofoam and you’re done. Add a pretty ribbon and a card. Sure, your cookies may not be ornately decorated but they will be delicious if you baked them yourself. And you’ll save yourself a bundle of cash by doing it on your own.

Send someone a bouquet of cheerful birthday cookies today. It’s one gift that they won’t already have and that will be hard to resist!

60th Birthday Gift Ideas

Over The Hill Birthday GiftFor the lady or man in your life who is turning 60 this year, you’ll have to do a little thinking to find the right present. After all, he or she probably has everything already. You’ve probably given every nice gift you can think of by now. What would make a really special 60th milestone birthday present?

Think Practical

Many times, by the age of 60, a person has raised his or her children and is looking to downsize. Don’t clutter up their home with a trinket when you could gift them with an experience. Take them for a helicopter ride over the city or send them on a train trip across country. Depending on your budget, you can even give them a trip that includes the rest of the family. You might all go on a celebratory cruise and pay for mom or dad’s way as her/his gift. You might offer to pay for plane tickets to Hawaii or some other magical destination. The idea of the destination gift is that it’s an experience they’ll remember forever.

Think Big

So your family member has all the candleholders and mugs she can use? How about thinking way outside the traditional gift box? Give her a gift certificate for a class she has always wanted to take at an art studio or for golf lessons at the country club. Send her off for ballet lessons or treat him to flying lessons with a pro pilot. There are so many things people talk about doing but never get around to. If your recipient is blessed with good health, get him or her out there doing one of the things on their wish list.

Think Amazing

If you want to really make a memorable impression with your 60th gift, go in with siblings or coworkers to gift your friend or family member with one amazing gift. It could be a diamond tennis bracelet, a gold and diamond watch, a pendant in colored diamonds or an eel skin wallet. Choose something that is too extravagant for the recipient to buy for him or herself. You will find that this will delight them more than anything. The surprise factor of getting one really awesome gift is wonderful. And it means so much more than a few little gifts would.

You’re going to really have to think about your recipient if you want this birthday to be spectacular. Maybe your gift is a party complete with 60th birthday tableware, party favors and decorations on board a dinner cruise ship or a private charter boat you rent for the day. Maybe you gather all the friends together for a cooking lesson with a local, famous chef. The sky’s the limit when it comes to a milestone birthday like this.

Think Food

A gift of gourmet food or a wine of the month club is always nice. You have a world of choices from elegantly dipped gourmet caramel apples to prime aged steak sent via dry ice. You can send a gourmet chocolate cheesecake or lobster tails, too.  If the recipient has a good sense of humor, consider sending or making an over the hill birthday basket filled with all kinds of little gag gifts and funny foods like prune juice and candy pills.

Consider the person’s lifestyle. Don’t gift a person with mobility issues with karate lessons. And don’t give a very active person knitting lessons. You know your recipient best. In order to make your gift really endearing and long-remembered, spend some time thinking.

Great Ideas for Birthday Golf Gifts

birthday golf gifts

Do you have a golfing friend with a birthday coming up? If so, you are in luck because there are many different birthday golf gifts. The range of presents available is huge and you will find many at your local sports or department stores. Specialized stores of course have a much larger range.

Many items are suitable for people on a limited budget. A packet of tees is inexpensive and markers do not cost much either. These and balls often need replacing because they are small and are lost easily. If you purchased a magnetized marker, a hat clip to go with it makes a nice addition. Planning will mean you can even get the balls personalized. It is very important to dress correctly for the course. Certain items of attire are restricted but a good pair of socks will not cause a problem. In addition, quality socks help to cushion the feet on the long walk around the course. A tidy shirt and shorts set works for both genders. Add to that a cap to protect them from sunburn and you have a nice little outfit that is comfortable and looks good too. Multiply the size of a normal umbrella by two or three and you will get the idea of the size of a golf umbrella. They provide plenty of room for the golfer still leaving space to play. Storms or baking heat will not stop the keen player if you get them one of these for a present.

Lessons from a professional are a dream that many amateur golfers never get to fulfill. Improving individual performance takes a lot of practice and coaching from experts is invaluable. Lessons can be purchased singly or in multiples and will never be wasted. Even professionals take lessons from other professionals to make sure they continue to improve. At the top of most golfers’ wish list, you will find a new set of clubs. Each person will have his or her own preferred type and brand. If you find out what that is and give it to them, you may top their list of best friends. If you cannot afford a full set of clubs, take some time to find out which individual club they dislike the most and replace that. If that is too hard, try purchasing a bag that will protect the clubs and provides a way to transport them around the course.

It is the dream of many golfers to play on an excellent course. The next best thing is to have a membership at a private club. Buy your special person a year’s membership at the local club and they will enjoy discounted access to other private courses and make many new friends to play with. Finding birthday golf gifts for your friend or relative is not difficult. Choosing one from the many different items available is not an easy task. Try to set your budget that way the choices will present themselves and you will be sure to get the perfect present.

Perfect Gifts for the Photog

Photographers are lucky to have a wide array of gadgets, accessories and new cameras to feed their hobby. For birthday, holiday or anytime gifts, surprise the photographer in your life with a perfect gift. There are photography gifts available at all price points, so there’s no excuse to scrimp on this. Here are some of the top picks for photogs.

Cameras

Who doesn’t love a new camera? There’s a wide range of DSLR cameras available for professionals and hobbyists alike. If you know that your photographer has her eye on a new camera, this may make the perfect gift. If you’re unsure what brand to give, you can always give her a gift certificate for a new camera or pick one out yourself and include a gift receipt. Or you might decide to give a Lomo or other gadget camera to inspire creativity in a new way.

Camera Mounts

Mounts will enhance group shots and photos shot in low light settings or at night. You can even find mounts that are compatible with iPad, iPhone and other smartphone cameras. Camera mounts allow a photographer to mount her camera to a tripod or mic stand. This keeps the body secure, resulting in a stable shot even when the light is low. Without a mount, images may end up blurry or out of focus. If she does not have a tripod, include one of these with the gift so she can get the most use from the mount.

Lenses

Lenses are practical and artful, allowing photographers to zoom in for close-up action shots or wildlife shots or create fun and funky images that distort the angles and perspective of the shot. While lenses are not cheap, they do make a great investment for any photographer. If yours is a brand loyalist, there’s good news: Many lenses from iconic companies like Canon or Nikon are compatible with SLR and DSLR cameras. This means that photographers can use the same lenses across camera models.

Straps

The thin strap that the average DSLR camera is sold with is generally not hardy enough for the serious photographer. Surprise her with a thick, sturdy camera strap in her favorite color. Look for a strap long enough to go over one shoulder and across her torso, so that she can wear the camera over her shoulder or back. This leaves her hands free to pose models or set up a shot, yet keeps the camera within close reach for those impromptu shots. Since straps come in all different variations, it is easy to find one for every style of camera. These cost less than other camera accessories, a nice bonus for shoppers on a budget.

Novelty Gifts

If the photog in your life already has everything, don’t panic: Novelty gifts offer something fun and photo-focused. You can go the traditional gag gift routine and look for shot glasses, socks or lens mugs. Yet you’ll also find DSLR camera novelty items including pocket spotlights, speed readers, bokeh kits, Holga lenses and filters and more. There is bound to be something your photographer will enjoy – and does not own already.

With so many options to choose from, shopping for this gift will be fun. Who knows, shopping for the perfect photography gift just might inspire you to upgrade your equipment!

Why Businesses Send Corporate Holiday Gifts

It’s not uncommon to receive a holiday gift or two in the mail from a company you’ve done business with or contracted with over the course of the year. Wondering why companies would bother sending out gifts in an economy like this? The answer is more complicated than you think.

It’s About Loyalty

Most companies today understand the value of a long term relationship with customers or vendors, and sending out holiday corporate gifts is the perfect way to help keep you within arm’s reach. After all, if you’re a customer, aren’t you far more likely to go with the company that sent you a nice fruit basket at Christmas last year than the one that hasn’t spoken to you since you ordered thousands of dollars in products and services? Companies want you to remain loyal to them, and a quick holiday gift is the perfect way to make sure you remember who they are the next time you need something.

It’s About Gratitude

Most companies really are looking for a way to thank their customers and vendors over the course of the year, so they decide to send out holiday gifts as a short thank you. They understand that you have options in this cut-throat market, and they need you to know that they truly value your business. A fruit basket or even something as simple as a travel mug is a great way to help you remember that they care about you and want you to come back again and again.

It’s About Marketing

It’s rare to get a gift from a company without a logo printed somewhere on it, and that’s a huge part of the reason so many companies decide to send out gifts in the first place. They want to give you something, but they want to give you something that will help you remember who they are. They hope that others will see you’re a dedicated customer too and ask about their services or product line thanks to the marketing on the side of the travel mug, hand crank radio, or fleece blanket they sent.

It’s About Referrals

Word of mouth marketing is one of the most powerful tools in any industry these days, and if you tell someone else about this great company you used when you had your new windows installed or you refer to a company you know that you contracted with last year, people are more likely to contact them for products and services over their competitors. A holiday gift is a wonderful way to remind you what a great company they are, making you more likely to say,”Oh, I know this company that handles that,” to your nearest neighbor or family member. Those referrals don’t cost them anything in terms of marketing dollars, so sending out a holiday gift may well be worth several referrals.

No matter why the company sent you a gift this year, a nice thank you is the perfect way to express your gratitude for their gift.

Finding the Best Golf Tournament Trophies

golf tournament trophiesFinding appropriate golf tournament trophies take some time and thought. The options range from small, inexpensive trinkets to the more expensive and coveted styles. The types you get for your event should reflect the type of players you want to draw. For charity events, you will want to bring in as many players as possible. The nicer the trophies, the more interesting it can be.

Clear glass or plastic items provide a nice modern look. Trophies made from high quality crystal or solid glass have a beautiful clear look and often sparkle when placed in a lighted display case. Silver or bronze on a wood mount provides a very traditional look. Trophies have used this style for hundreds of years. It is still a very coveted type of award. Mount the shapes on the wooden stand, which makes them stand out in any display case. The shapes vary widely. Some events have a custom shape used to represent their specific event. You can also choose from a wide selection of popular shapes. The most popular has been the swinging golfer mounted on the wooden stand. Some use combined shapes including the tee, club, or golf ball. Many of the awards will find their way to desks and display cases for the recipient and others to enjoy.

Each tournament should have several awards. The number depends on the diversity of players. If you are hosting a charity event that has players of all ages, you may include a first place in each age category. Use other awards for fun accomplishments like a hole in one. Most will include at least the first through third place winners. Engraving adds some value to the awards. The engraver will often provide a bulk discount when you have several plates created with the same wording. In some cases, you may want to have the names of the players added after declared the winner. This step makes the event even more meaningful. For this to work, you can have either the plates removed or the entire trophy sent to the engraver and then sent back to the recipient.

The costs will depend on the options you choose. If you have a custom shape created, the cost will be significantly higher. However, you can also choose from several standard shapes and types that will be readily available without having to have anything added. Most engraving does add to the price, but discounts are available.Golf tournament trophies are highly coveted. Golfers love to display their awards to show their accomplishment as well as their love of the sport. Engraved items make it easy to remember what event they participated in. Events are greatly enhanced by the number and type of awards made available to the participants.

The Advantages of Promotional Golf Gifts

promotional golf giftsBuild business relationships around promotional golf gifts. Just about any corporate sales community appreciates well-received gifts of these types because many executives and sales people use golf as an outlet for stress. The game takes all day and many will transact business from the green. The products include everything from desk trinkets to entire club sets.

The desk trinkets are fun for an avid golfer. They will proudly display them on their desk for others to see. They are also a great conversation piece. Some include bronzed tees, miniature greens, and office putting sets. Most fans will adorn their office with many items. In all cases, your prominently displayed logo even casual observers. They may seek to better their own relationship with your company to receive similar gifts. Personalizing items is very popular. Reward meeting sales goals or show appreciation to a valued customer. The individuals will enjoy having their own name printed on the various items. Even general use items, such as tees, when personalized, are status symbol. Many people spend a lot of money to personalize their own sets. Having one presented to them is a big deal.

Corporate logos should be on every item given away. This allows the items to be a free advertisement to others. Most executives and sales members play the game with people in similar industries. As the other players see the various items provided by your company, they will begin to ask about your company and line of work. Giving away entire sets sends a signal of extreme value. For either business associates or employees, receiving an entire set of clubs lets other players know that they have achieved a level of value that is difficult to attain. Logo displayed gifts are big conversation pieces as the logo is displayed. Golfers know how much entire sets cost, so they will understand the importance of this presentation. These will be the envy of everyone on the course.

Clothing items are popular items. Since golfers spend hours in grueling weather conditions, they have adaptable clothing. These outfits are specialized and they often wear the same thing every time they hit the course. When their outfit consists of items with your logo, they again are providing a great advertisement for your company. Smaller accessories used often need to be replaced constantly. Golf balls, tees, pencils, and other items are usually lost, broken, or worn out. When you provide your staff and business partners with logo items, they will keep coming back for more. The price is such that you can order them in bulk quantity to keep your logo front and center on the course.

Promotional golf gifts provide valuable advertising and morale boosts. The business partners will enjoy using them and showing off to their friends. Employees see them as status symbols within the company. Either way, your logo is in front of many decision makers that frequent golf courses. This is advertising that is un-matched any other way.

Logo Golf Ball Markers Highly Decorative As Well As Useful

logo golf ball markersThe popularity of this game has grown in leaps and bounds to a point where both professionally and amateur levels are played around the world. Golfing has created a multi-billion market catering to consumer demands for clothing, equipment and accessories. Logo Golf Ball Markers make sought after items.  In fact, beginners starting out on their first round of golf will have at least one spot marker their pocket. The rules of the game clearly state when and where a ball may be picked up whilst it is in play. Markers may appear small and insignificant but they play an important role throughout the game especially on the putting greens.

Prior to the introduction of spot indicators as seen nowadays players used a coin to indicate the spot where their ball was. These worked well enough but as they stood out above the grass, they often deflected the run of a ball hit during a putt. The name of the inventor of this useful piece of equipment has been lost in the mists of time but players around the world will always be grateful to whoever it may have been. As an advertising medium, its impact is huge. Logo Golf Ball Markers are an effective manner in which to advertise a brand, service or product. Their main attraction is their size. Companies wishing to spend more money may choose to give them together with tees and pitch repairers. Presentation packs sold by retailers and golf course pro shops and in many instances given as free handouts at special events.

Plastic items are less expensive but they limit quality and impact of logos. Metal is preferred for it versatility, durability and quality. It is also the material most used in presentation gifts sets. The most common design is a flat top, which has a thin spike attached to its base. Certain golfing gloves also have a small magnet type marker attached. Metal items have become highly affordable. The fact that they do not age and break with regular use makes these types a better option for promotional items as the message stays out there for longer. It is also important when choosing a material to advertise and promote a business or product to choose one that reflects top quality. Branding can be dye cast directly onto metal. Zinc, copper, aluminum and zinc alloys are metal types most used to make bases. There are various techniques in which the logo which is replicated, either resin epoxy or enamel work. Gold, silver or nickel plating gives the product a richer look. A new design concept for a spot indicator is a clip at the back, which attaches to a person’s glove, hat or bag and is quick to find.

Logo Golf Ball Markers may be small but they are essential items that pack a great silent advertising punch. The designs are amazing in many instances unique. Both followers of the game and players collect them. People wishing to personalize these items for a special gift can do so at an additional cost.

Selecting the Right Custom Golf Divot Tools

Custom golf divot tools can be an important addition to any players’ bag. Basic resources that will ensure players are able to get the most out of each game and chance to play would be worth having. Lacking the means to restore the green after you have played through can cause any number of issues with those who manage and share the course with you.

Players who enjoy this sport, or who make every attempt to play, would do well to stock up on the right supplies. A tool created just for you can be a fine addition to your other supplies and may even make a suitable gift for other players that you may know. Knowing where to find the best options and resources will ensure that any purchase you make will be a more successful one.

Situations that will affect the play of others can benefit from the right etiquette. Even minor variations in the state of the putting green can result in greater frustration and missed opportunities for any players who may come through after you have played. With a specifically built tool you can, quickly and effectively restore the course to its original condition.

Supplies that will ensure a more enjoyable and successful time on the links would be well worth investing in. The relatively small cost of purchase, even for high quality products, ensures that such resources will never have to be out of reach. Players that are working with limited finances or that lack a larger budget should investigate to make their choices most favorable.

With plenty of different retail opportunities to make use of, knowing how to shop in smarter ways will ensure that customers will be able to meet their needs. Overlooking the merchants and retailers that may have far more to offer could result in many lost opportunities. Finding and comparing the right options will allow you to find the product, tool or purchase that would best suite your needs.

Speaking to those you play with and inquiring about where they have purchased their supplies could give you unique insight into the different resources available to you. Networking can be a simple and effective way to learn all you need to in order to make the right purchase. Even a small conversation could turn up a wealth of potentially useful information.

Using the Internet to assist you with your search would be a very beneficial decision. The amount of retail, product, and pricing information available may make a considerable difference in your options. Shopping for the best supplies and opportunities will require customers to perform a little research in order to be better informed.

Custom golf divot tools and the other supplies and products that will be of use during play can be an important resource. The small expense needed to purchase a quality tool that has been customized to suite the tastes of individual players can provide an ideal solution. Keeping the course in the best state possible will ensure that those who play after you will not have to suffer any inconvenience.

What are the Best Personal Birthday Gifts?

Overall, the gifting market continues to grow year on year, and has done even against the uncertain economic climate that consumers have faced in recent years.  Because times are tough, people are intent on ensuring that special occasions such as birthdays have that additional edge to them.

Of course, there is a temptation to say that, by their very nature, all gifts that we give are personal in relation to those receiving them. However, ‘personalized’ gifting remains popular, and is one of the biggest areas of growth within the sector as a whole. We looked at the best ideas for personal birthday gifts, and at what makes them so special.

Experiences

All of us have aspirations. Some of us want to leave our job and work for a better company or boss, some want to earn just a little extra money in order to be able to take a family holiday, and some want to take part in an exhilarating experience, such as a skydive or driving a sports car around a race track.

While you may not be able to organize either of the first two for a friend or loved one, you do have the option of facilitating the latter, which is probably something they always talk about but feel they will never actually do. It might even be worth getting together with other friends or family in order to pay for the best experience possible, which will make for a truly memorable day.

Dolls

The market for girls’ dolls has picked up somewhat in recent years, as parents begin to turn their backs on technology products on the fear that their children are growing up too quickly. A doll can be a deeply personal gift for a girl, from early childhood, through their teenage years, and even for a young woman if it is of the collectible variety.

In terms of younger recipients of such dolls, not only will they be receiving a plaything, they are also being introduced to a new friend who can share their experiences and grow up happily alongside them, understanding the frustrations young people can go throw and being the good listener that they so often need.

Although such gifts are personal in that way, they can also often be customized and given the person’s name or even be made to look like the person, although some people may find this a little on the creepy side!

Home Products

Personalized messages on products for the home are a thoughtful gift idea that is perfect for birthdays, as well as anniversaries and other occasions. A pair of champagne flutes, for example, etched with a person’s name and a special message will take pride of place in many a home. Perhaps the only downside to such gifts is that they may become display items only, and never actually be used for drinking from!

While all gifts are personal in some way, there are ways to add a thoughtful touch, whether that be through the gift itself or the message that comes along with it. Give a personalized gift to a friend or loved one on their next birthday, and see for yourself how much it means to them.

Best Dolls for Your Little Girl

Most little girls, and even some boys, go through a phase when they are inseparable from their favorite dolls. Kids naturally emulate the things they see their parents doing, and having a doll is the perfect way for a little girl to mimic the actions she has experienced with her mother. When they get older, girls also often get into collecting dolls and creating elaborate pretend play scenarios with these dolls. Choose from some of these favorites when you’re looking for the perfect gift for your little girl.

Monster High Dolls: The elementary and middle school crowds absolutely love these dolls these days, and they’re definitely unique. The dolls are based after characters from a web series and are designed as the kids of famous mythical characters, like Medusa, Dracula, and others. They’ve been a must-have toy for a couple of years now, and girls love collecting their favorite characters and playing out scenarios that bring in all their different personalities.

Barbies: Girls have been playing with Barbies for decades, and it’s hard to find a doll with a more solid fan base. These days, you can find tons of different personalities and themed collectible dolls, like Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. With all these choices, there is definitely a Barbie for everyone, so take your time picking out one that will quickly become your little girl’s favorite doll.

Baby Alive Wanna Walk Doll: This interactive doll is perfect for preschool and early elementary school girls who are interested in caring for and teaching a baby. The Baby Alive Wanna Walk doll is electronic and says a wide range of phrases, but her main feature is that she can walk when someone holds her hands, and she interacts with a girl to encourage her to help. It can even be the perfect practice for a little girl who has a younger sibling on the way!

Manhattan Toy Stella: When you’re looking for a doll for a girl who is barely past the baby stage herself, consider the Manhattan Toy Stella. This soft baby doll is designed for kids ages 1 to 3, and she’s made of soft and durable fabric, and she even has a soft pacifier that magnetically attaches to her mouth. You’ll find your little one toting this doll all around the house, and even outside the house if you let her.

Little Mommy Bedtime Baby: If your little girl likes cuddling with a doll as she falls asleep, this is the perfect doll for her. It’s soft and cuddly, plays a lullaby when you put the pacifier in her mouth, and even has a soft light in the pacifier to act as a night-light until she falls asleep. Plus, if she wakes up in the middle of the night, it’s easy for her to reactivate the doll to help get herself back to sleep.

Whether you’re looking for a birthday present, Christmas gift, or just something special to give your precious little girl, these dolls are the perfect choices. Consider your girl’s age and interests to pick the type of doll you think she’ll enjoy most. Make sure it’s one you appreciate, too, because once you give it to her, she may be carrying it around everywhere!

How To Add A Personal Touch To Gift And Make It More Special?

Gift is a small token of showing our appreciation, love and care.  The custom of giving away gifts dates back in time and continues still as a tradition to mark different events like New Year, birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and Eid.  Gifts can be presented due to a special reason or just to show how you feel at heart.  The kind of gift you chose as a present can say much about you as a person and show how much you appreciate the other person.  Adding a personal touch to even a small gift can make it very special.

Flowers have always been the best gift at expressing the true feelings.  The various colours of flowers are also a chemistry to master, as each flower colour is associated with a different message.  The yellow and white flowers are great for someone not well while the red flowers are symbolic of love on valentine day.  Many shops today let you print your name or massage onto the petals of the flower. The new technology has let us personalize this item as a gift.  Personalizing a gift is all the important these days as it shows your extra effort out of busy and tough routines.  This extra mile that you go for someone makes a lasting impression into his/her heart.

Many people do not put much thought when buying a gift for someone.  This often leads to buying a gift in the last minute.  Because of this you might buy an expensive item with not much of a statement to make.  Carefully thought out present, well before time can make a great gift and it might be of some use to the gifted person.  It is not necessary that the gift should be something expensive.  An inexpensive item too can be a great gift.  All one need to do is to customize and personalize the gift to make it special for the one you care.

For a wedding, know what the couple likes or needs.  This can be done easily if you know the profession of a person and plan accordingly.  A gift cherished by both the partners shall make a unique gift that they will appreciate forever.  Like a photo album is something both will use and appreciate while putting their wedding photos onto it.  Similarly, wallet for the lady and the man with their names on makes a nice personalized gift.  Buying some crockery for the house shows your concern towards buying a useful item.  Otherwise an on demand smile and gratitude is what you will get for any gift you present.  If the gifted item is used and has made the person’s life easier, it is sure to create a thankful and appreciating note forever.

Planning what you buy as a gift requires some time and effort from your side which is worth it.

How to Make that Personalized Gift Stand Out

The unfortunate thing about many “personalized” gift items lately is that they are actually a dime a dozen. Putting names on coffee mugs, key chains, pens, and other personal effects have become an expected gesture, and, sadly, a cliche one, as well. However, there are creative and unexpected ways to make personalized items really stand out and be unique. Let’s look at some of them.

Serve up coffee you brewed yourself in a personalized mug.

What better way to make that cherished coffee-lover in your life feel extra-special than to make him or her fresh, hot coffee and serve it up in their new personalized mug? You can surprise them with it as early as breakfast time, and you’ll be sure that your gift will be associated with a lovely memory through the years (which, after all, is the best and most enduring present anyone can give).

Have their favorite musician, book, art, or poetry printed on the item instead of their name.

To avoid making it seem like having an item “personalized” is a perfunctory gesture (one you do for everyone in one go), be unexpectedly thoughtful and considerate. Do a bit of research on the person’s preferences in music, art, film, food, books, poetry, history, etc. Then go the extra-mile and have an image of their idol or hero, or a line from their favorite poem, song, or film printed on something they can use on a daily basis. Some items ideal for this particular tip include journals, day planners, business card holders, coffee mugs, pens, and notepads.

Draw or write it yourself.

You don’t have to be a professional artist or writer to come up with a gift that pays homage to a special person. You simply have to know the person, and have shared memories with him or her. Draw these memories, make collages of them, and write something that only you and the recipient of the gift share. Then have the resulting image or text printed on a journal, daily planner, notepad, jewelry box, or something else he or she will likely use regularly. By doing this, you will truly give something no other person can ever have.

Best Gifts for Your Kids

Puzzling over what to get your niece or nephew for a birthday? Chances are, he’s already got tons of toys and you don’t want to get him something that will be under appreciated. Try these gift ideas next time you’re in a pinch for young children of all ages.

Games

Mom and Dad will definitely approve of a game that’s got an educational component and plenty of fun. Try these picks:

  • Qwirkle: This game seems simple enough: You match tiles’ colors and shapes and get points. Young children will learn the basics of matching and older kids will enjoy developing strategy that helps them to win. This one is sure to become a family favorite, and has won awards from Parent’s Choice and Mensa Select.
  • Angry Birds Knock on Woods: If the kid in your life loves the Angry Birds app, try giving this board game. The board game employs the same slingshot premise as the app and incorporates mission cards that guide game play
  • Blokus Board: Good for older children, this game requires strategy to place colored tiles on the game board. Ensure a new tile touches a tile of the same color, but only at the corners.

Dolls

The dolls market is so crowded that choosing the right doll for a little girl can be super tricky. The tip here is to stick with established franchises that she already likes and knows. Ask Mom about which dolls she likes or try these top picks:

  • Monster High Dolls: Monster High has been all the rage among young girls. If your niece or daughter is a Monster High fan, she’ll love collecting another of the Monster High personalities. Try the specialty collections like Roller Maze, Halloween, Travel Scaris or Picture Day if she’s got the original line of dolls.
  • Barbie Collector Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen Doll: Building on the success of the Hunger Games franchise, this doll presents a likeness of Katniss Everdeen based on actress Jennifer Lawrence. The Katniss doll comes complete with a mockingjay pin, quiver of arrows and a bow. This is a must for fans of the Hunger Games series and Barbie collectors.

Electronics

If your niece or nephew’s always grabbing your iPad or iPhone, an electronics gift is sure to please. Electronics gifts to consider include:

  • LeapPad: Similar to an iPad, the LeadPad is decidedly built for kids. The device offers over 100 games, ebooks, flash cards, videos and apps to boost learning. Kids can also use it as a camera or video camera. The LeapPad comes with 2 GB of memory, so Mom and Dad can add more games and apps later on. This educational toy is geared toward younger children aged 4 to 9.
  • MP3 Player: High-end mp3 players like the iPod Touch as well as low-end mp3 players that don’t offer auxiliary functions make fun gifts for kids who want to explore their own musical tastes. Consider gifting an mp3 player along with a gift card to the iTunes store or Amazon, so kids can equip the device with music right away. This makes sense for older children.

Talk to Mom and Dad before you gift a large electronics gift, as they may already be planning to give this gift or they may have rules about what type of technology their wee one can use at home.

Score cool mom and dad or auntie or uncle points with a gift that’s kid-approved. Since these gifts come at a wide range of price points, there’s sure to be something that works for special occasions and everyday surprises.

Five Weird Awards

1. The Stinky Shoe Award:

In 1975, “The Sneaker Contest” was founded as a method to aid local sporting goods stores to sell shoes. It soon grew into a nationwide event in America in 1988 after Odour-Eaters gained sponsorship agreement with the event. Now it has fermented into the ultimate test of just how offensive sneakers belonging to children between the ages of 5 and 15 can get. The sneakers competing will be judged on the conditions of the sole, tongue, heel, toe, laces or Velcro, the overall condition and of course, the odour.  One of the previous winners was a 15 year old boy from Alaska after he defeated various other challengers to win the prize reward of $2,500

2. The Darwin Award:

A ‘Darwin Award’ is an award named after the evolutionary theorist, Charles Darwin. This award is given to those who “do a service to humanity by accidentally removing themselves from the gene pool” or in other words, dying a in a ridiculously dumb fashion. Examples of Darwin award winners include:
Jumping out of a plane to film skydivers without wearing a parachute (U.S., 1987); Trying to get enough light to look down the barrel of a loaded muzzle loader gun using a cigarette lighter (U.S., 1996); Attempting to play Russian roulette with a semi-automatic pistol that automatically loads the next round into the chamber.

3.  The Foot in the Mouth Award:

This award is for the dumbest comment made from a public figure. This strange award is given each year by the British Plain English Campaign for “a baffling comment by a public figure”. George Bush immediately springs to mind and was the winner of the award in 2009 with the brilliant winning statement of “I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe – I believe what I believe is right.” Previous winners include “I love England, especially the food. There’s nothing I like more than a lovely bowl of pasta.” (Explained by Naomi Campbell.)

4. Most Sexist Comment:

An Australian Award, the “Ernies” are awarded to individuals and companies who make sexist remarks or do something sexist. It is named after former Australian Workers Union secretary Ernie Ecob, who was known for his sexist remarks. A total of around 400 women all gather for a dinner annually and the statement that receives the largest and loudest booing is crowned the winner. Pastor Danny Nalliah, received the award in recent years for blaming the Black Saturday brush fires on Victoria’s abortion laws. His exact words were: “God’s conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb.’

5. The Golden Collar Awards:

This award is awarded to dogs for performances in films and is seen as the Oscars for dogs. 2012’s winner, Uggie, the adored Jack Russel terrier The Artist was named last year’s top dog. This slightly lesser prestigious award was only created in 2012 by the Dog News Daily web site, a commercial web site dedicated to the products for dogs that has been created in 2009. The categories include;

  • Best Dog in a Theatrical Film
  • Best Dog in a Foreign Film
  • Best Dog in a Television Series
  • Best Dog in a Reality Television Series
  • Best Dog in a Direct-To-DVD Film

Why Is Golf Course Membership in Decline

It seems to be that the case is currently that golf membership is in decline, less people are signing up for membership than they used to. A survey has shown that in 2011 the combined loss of members from its golf clubs in the UK and Ireland alone totaled 42,700 but it is happening all over the world and no- one really knows why.

Well anyone can jump to the conclusion of the economy and they would be right but only to a certain extent. Obviously someone’s finances will dictate whether they can afford to buy a golf membership usually costing in the region of £1000 upwards. But with the difficulties that the economy has faced in these last few years, many people are reluctant to commit themselves to a golf membership in case they need the money for something else more important. Golf is not the only institution that has suffered in this respect but many people who would have previously signed up for the membership without even thinking are cutting this element out of their lives for the time being to stay on the safe side.

After all it would appear that most of the people that are holding back are the casual golfers and the more frequent golfers are still putting time and money aside. For many it is the fact that their lifestyle does not allow the time for golf, especially if they have a family to take care of.

This poses another factor in the sense that younger visitors may not be into golf as much as with demographics changing with each generation, golf clubs are finding it harder to reach out to potential new members.

With the children and parents out of the picture. That only leaves the older members but with the retiring age becoming blurred, the number of senior citizens spending their free time on the golf course is also decreasing. Many people work into their old age, causing yet another demographic to disappear.

Golf however is far from finished and still has a sizable fan base. Golf clubs are taking steps to offer visitors more money in an effort to win over new members and there will always be the professionals that will find it hard to give it up and really enjoy spending their spare time practicing and brushing up their skills for tournaments. Some courses are even installing hi-tech equipment such as golf course cameras, enabling golfers to view a particular stretch of a course before they decide whether the conditions are suitable for playing.
